The Brief
Our clients had recently moved to a new home in Broadway, near Ilminster in Somerset, and wanted to extend their garden into a large plot behind the house. They had already worked with local landscape designer Clare Challis to create a masterplan and were looking for an experienced landscaping team to bring it to life. The brief focused on transforming the cleared site into a functional yet beautiful outdoor space with areas for growing, relaxing and enjoying nature.
The Outcome
Working to the design, we began by grading and levelling the plot before setting out the new garden layout. Paths were dug and laid to connect the different areas, while a fenced vegetable garden was constructed with concrete bases for a greenhouse and shed. A new wildlife pond was created as a focal point, complemented by two seating areas offering views across the garden. A section of the land was turfed to seamlessly extend the existing lawn, while the planting framework will mature over time to add texture, colour and biodiversity.
The result is a garden that blends productivity with relaxation — space to grow vegetables, entertain friends, and enjoy nature — all within a beautifully structured design that maximises the potential of the plot.
